Equipment logistics if you come by cable car

The 9 km cable car from Bursa makes Uludağ one of the few ski resorts you can reach without a car. Carrying skis in the cabin, though — particularly at busy times — is not a pleasant experience.

So for guests coming up by cable car we hand the equipment over at the top: either at your hotel directly, or at our meeting point by the upper station. You travel up with nothing but yourself.

The same arrangement works for day visitors. Collect at the upper station in the morning and drop off at the same point in the evening — we set the times around the cable car schedule.

Uludağ's fog and choosing the right lens

Because of the damp Marmara air, Uludağ is the foggiest ski resort in Turkey. Visibility on the summit can drop below 50 metres, and snow and sky merge into one — the condition known as flat light.

In that situation the goggle lens is the single most critical piece of your kit. Yellow, orange or rose tints raise contrast and make the bumps in the piste visible. A dark mirrored lens does the opposite: in fog you will see nothing at all.

Goggle sets we send to Uludağ carry a light-tint lens by default. If a bright day is forecast, you can request a second lens or a photochromic model.

Managing the crowds: when to come

Uludağ is the most-visited ski resort in Turkey, which means real crowds at weekends and during holidays. Over New Year and the mid-term break both hotels and lifts fill up; for those dates we recommend reserving equipment at least three weeks ahead.

If you can come midweek, Uludağ becomes a different resort altogether: no queues, empty pistes, lower prices. Weekdays in January and February are how to see it at its best.

Oteller Bölgesi I or II? What the location changes

Accommodation at Uludağ splits into two zones, and although they are only a few hundred metres apart the difference shapes the daily experience.

Oteller Bölgesi I is the older, more central zone with the widest choice of hotels, restaurants and shops. The trade-off is a short shuttle or walk to reach the chairlifts.

Oteller Bölgesi II sits higher and closer to the lifts, which suits anyone who wants to be on the first chair. Evening options there are more limited.

Pistes and shuttles link the two, so whichever you choose you can use the whole resort. We deliver equipment to every property in both zones.

Managing the crowds at Uludağ

Uludağ is the most-visited ski resort in Turkey, which means busy pistes and lifts at weekends. What shapes your experience is not whether there is a crowd but how you work around it.

Rule one: start early. Between 08:30 and 10:30 the pistes are quiet and the snow is at its best; day visitors arrive after 11:00.

Rule two: use the side lifts rather than the main chair. While the most visible lift builds a queue, the ones a short walk away often stay empty.

Rule three: choose your dates. Tuesday to Thursday turns Uludağ into a different resort — no queues, empty pistes and markedly cheaper accommodation. If your schedule is flexible, this is the highest-return decision you can make.
