Unlike a ski boot, a snowboard boot is soft and lets you walk. That does not mean it should be loose: if your heel lifts inside the boot, your control over the board drops noticeably.
Most of our boots use BOA quick-lace systems. Tightening with a single dial takes seconds even with gloves on and makes mid-day adjustment easy — the detail riders appreciate most after a season of fighting with traditional laces.
Heel lift: what it is and how to spot it
Put the boot on, tighten it, then flex your knee forward. If your heel lifts off the footbed, you have heel lift. It delays the response when you press on the heel edge of the board and throws your balance off.
The fix is usually a half size down or a different last. We run this test together at handover — it takes a minute and saves your day.

Frequently asked questions
Are snowboard boots the same as ski boots?
No. Snowboard boots are soft, with a flexible sole designed to fit snowboard bindings. A ski boot will not fit a snowboard binding, and vice versa.
