Ski rental at Kartalkaya is 750 TL per day. The weekend (2-day) package is 1,350 TL and three days 1,850 TL. Delivery to every hotel in the Kartal and Dorukkaya sectors is free and usually happens on Friday evening.
How Kartalkaya's snow shapes your equipment choice
Thanks to moist air arriving from the Black Sea, Kartalkaya gets more snow than almost anywhere else in Turkey. But the character of that snow differs from Erciyes or Palandöken: wetter, heavier and stickier as the day goes on.
In those conditions base preparation matters. An unwaxed ski slows noticeably in damp snow and leaves you poling across the flats, which is why the skis we send to Kartalkaya are waxed more often during the season.
For width, a mid-range ski (78–85 mm) is plenty — open powder fields are limited here and the pistes are well groomed. If you plan to ski the tree sections, going slightly shorter makes turning easier.
A practical plan for the weekend skier
Most people arrive at Kartalkaya on Friday evening and leave on Sunday afternoon. For that pattern the most efficient approach is to take delivery at your hotel on Friday night and leave the gear at reception after skiing on Sunday — no skis in the car, no morning queue at a rental counter.
Saturday morning lift queues are a known feature of Kartalkaya. With your equipment ready you can be on snow at 08:30, and those first two hours are both quiet and the best the snow will be all day.
Our two-day weekend package is 1,350 TL, which saves 150 TL against two single days. Adding a helmet and outerwear improves the package rate further.
Why Kartalkaya works so well for beginners
Kartalkaya's soft snow makes falling less punishing than at Turkey's other resorts. An ice layer rarely forms, which for someone in their first days on snow means both confidence and fewer bruises.
The second advantage is where the hotels are: almost all of them sit at the base of the lifts. When you tire you can walk back to your room and come out again an hour later. For a beginner that flexibility beats trying to last a full day on the hill.
For beginners we supply short, soft skis, a low DIN setting and always a helmet. If the equipment does not suit on day one, we swap it on the spot at no charge.
The Bolu–Kartalkaya mountain road: what to know
The 38 km mountain road to Kartalkaya is the hardest part of the journey and the part weekend skiers most often underestimate. It is steep, twisting and snow-covered all winter.
Winter tyres are not negotiable — driving that road on summer tyres endangers the cars behind you as well as your own. In heavy snowfall the gendarmerie enforces chain controls and turns back vehicles without them.
Avoid driving it in the dark. Arriving late on Friday is common, but if it is your first time on the road, daylight is markedly safer. Hotel shuttles from Bolu bus station are the alternative.
This is also a practical reason to have equipment delivered to your hotel: carrying skis on a roof rack up a narrow, twisting mountain road hurts both handling and fuel consumption.
Kartal or Dorukkaya? Choosing a sector
Choosing a hotel at Kartalkaya is effectively choosing which sector you will ski. The two are linked by connecting runs at the top, but most of your day happens on the side you are staying.
The Kartal sector sits next to the learning area and ski school. For a beginner or a family with children it is the right side: the walk from room to piste is short, and taking a tired child back inside takes minutes.
The Dorukkaya side is livelier, with the snowpark and the floodlit night piste. For intermediate and advanced skiers and for snowboarders it offers a more varied day.
We deliver to every hotel in both sectors — just give us the hotel name when you book.

Yes — most of our weekend guests use exactly this option. Just tell us your hotel and roughly when you will arrive.

By prior arrangement we can hand over in Bolu city centre, though we would still recommend hotel delivery rather than carrying skis up the mountain road.
